The Grass Is Green Today

The grass is green today,
But I have seen it greener..
The grass was yellow last fall drought,
But I have seen it orange and sunset red, streaked with lengthening shadows.
The grass was black on moonless night,
But I have seen it blue by pale moonlight.
The grass was gay and white with Christmas frost,
But I have seen it gray and bleak in winters lost.
The grass is green today,
But I have seen it greener.
